Becoming your best possible version is a motivational phrase we often hear. It is said by speakers and coaches teaching you to become more confident and self-reliant. But have you ever wondered what it entails to become the best version of yourself?
It comprises a journey of self discovery, and taking a path less explored, to reach an end goal of becoming your most authentic, unapologetic self, without being rude or arrogant. It in fact makes you more humble and down to earth, as you understand your weaknesses and begin working on your limitations.
In order to become your most real, authentic self, shed away all expectations others have from you. Stop looking at yourself from the lens of others, look at you, your needs and aspirations internally and recognize what you have always neglected about yourself. Remember, all of us are unique beings, with different wants, wishes, aspirations and strengths. What someone else chose to be their life journey cannot fit your story, as you are your own writer, carving your own path.
Discover your true self:
On starting your journey of self discovery and attaining your best possible version, start with the very basics. Understand what makes you, you, and do not shy away from it. You can never be truly happy unless you recognize the truth about yourself. Leave all pretenses behind, it's just you on this journey of getting real. Ask yourself, which activities you love doing most, whose company you enjoy, what do you want to leave behind in the world as your legacy, and what made your happiest memories. Answering these simple yet thoughtful questions would enable you to dig deep down in your personality and give a direction to your life.
If you experience any negative emotions whilst asking yourself the basic questions, try and think what made you feel those feelings of envy, hatred, anger, sadness. Here are some practices you can adopt to let go of these negative emotions and embrace the real ‘you’:
Are you afraid to find who you truly are?
Have you pretended for the world around you for so long that you forget who your real self was? Are you embarrassed of becoming your true self? Why is that so? Begin with your ideal, true self in mind and take steps to reach there, without any pretenses and concerns for people pulling you down.
Forget your limitations, focus on your potential:
As clichéd as it may sound, sky's the limit when you tread on the path to self-discovery. You were always told about your limitations, but did you know what you could possibly become once you let go of these degrading thoughts and beliefs?
